Getting Over Panic Attacks

By | March 7, 2018

A panic attack is defined as a sudden period of intense anxiety.  Fear and mental uneasiness are characterized by a variety of non-life threatening physical symptoms. Which include: heart palpitations, nausea and abdominal cramps, dizziness, shortness in breath, and feeling as if one can’t breathe.

These symptoms usually develop very fast in about ten minutes and can last for up to an hour or an extreme case can last for about three hours.  It is best to remain as calm as possible and to monitor your breathing while this is going on.

The person that has had these attacks before can usually deal with them and control them from experience and self help methods.  However the first time sufferer will more then likely call 911 and go to the emergency room, the first time is usually no joke and can be very scary for the sufferer.  They usually have the fear of dying.  Panic attacks are not life threatining they just feel like they are.

Any Anxiety sufferer should avoid stimulants that make you feel more alert. Such as alcohol, cigarettes, coffee, caffinated tea, energy drinks, marijuana, etc. These substances put you in a heightened state of awareness and can easily trigger a panic attack in people that have suffered from them before.

The best cures are too avoid the stimulants and major STRESS.  It is also a good idea to take up yoga.  Exercise such as walking is another great idea.  Most sufferers it is a good idea to learn deep breathing exercises and learn how to meditate as this will lighten your mood.  Calming sounds such as the ocean and Enigma can calm you down as well.  Chamomile is known to calm as well.  If you still need more help visit your doctor and he should be able to help you any further.  You can read my complete story on how I overcame my anxiety and panic attacks at
